Who We Are

This archive is a product of the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project (MLMP). The MLMP is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that works to advance racial reconciliation within our state by; 

  • researching and documenting the history of racial terror lynchings in the state;
  • advocating for public acknowledgement of these murders;
  • supporting the Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and;
  • honoring and dignifying the lives of the victims. 

What We Do 

The MLMP Digital Archive seeks to preserve and provide access to historical documents related to racial terror lynchings in Maryland. We strive to support and document the efforts of the Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation Commissions and local county coalitions as they advocate for the public acknowledgment of these heinous acts. We hope to honor and dignify the lives of the victims, understanding that there cannot be reconciliation without truth.
