William Andrews was lynched after being accused of assaulting a white woman. He was convicted in a trial that lasted one hour, in which he had no defense. While he was being moved to the jail, a mob forcibly removed him from custody. Still in handcuffs, he was beaten, clubbed, and cut with razors until he was almost dead. Then the mob hanged him from a tree until he died.
